This Madison, NJ Deck was in Great Shape Structurally: Wood was Intact and Showed no Signs of Rot. But it had been Previously Painted and that Deck Paint was Peeling and Cracking Everywhere. CraftPro gave this Deck a Thorough Power-Wash to Expose and Lift Failed Paint; we Power-Sanded it Smooth and Stripped 90% of the Paint and then Applied Two Coats of a Top-Shelf Solid Stain

Deck Refinishing Prep-Work
In order to begin refinishing this Madison deck we had to first give it an extremely thorough power-wash. In any exterior painting, staining, sealing, or other type of coating home improvement it is absolutely critical to power-wash. We used a 3,000 PSI pressure-washer with a chemical-injector application. Since this home was built after 1978 we did not have to follow any EPA rules regarding lead-based paint. We tested just in case, and no lead paint was present. First we soaked the deck in a bleach-water solution to kill mold and mildew. After 15-20 minutes of allowing the bleach to do its job we used a high-pressure nozzle and blasted every square inch of this deck. The result is a mold- and mildew-free surface with failed paint either removed or exposed and ready to be stripped. After allowing it to dry overnight, we began power-sanding. Using circular sanders we stripped the deck of all its failed paint. 90% of the existing deck paint was removed. See below for a photo of the power-sanded, paint-stripped deck before we started staining:
